Santa Ponsa, unlike many other Majorca (Mallorca) resorts, has a rich history. King Jaime the First landed in 1229 on a quest to conquer the island. Santa Ponsa is mainly a summer resort, the season lasts from May to October, it is a family resort, has plenty of restaurants and bars and features a clean safe beach.
Located in the municipal district of Calvia, on the south west coast of the island, approximately 18km or 11 miles west of Palma, and the Son Sant Joan International airport.

Santa Ponsa is the larger beach which has been extended with imported sand. A more sheltered second beach is Calo d'en Pellicer, slightly smaller and closer to the marine club. The third, more exclusive beach is Castellot. If you fancy a dip or ride on one of the many water activities, you will find the temperature of the water warm and the appearance clear. 
For those who prefer not to take a packed lunch to the beach, the promenade is pedestrianised, featuring shade provided by pine trees and runs in front of the beach. There are the usual beachfront restaurants, bars, shops and cafés.
